CNC 1st Anniversary Tournament

June 11-25, 2025 - Tournament Details

1. Host's Message

Hello, this is ASCIIPhilia, administrator of the CNC server.

On June 18, 2025, our CNC server celebrates its first anniversary.

When I started the server, I never imagined a year would fly by this quickly.

Originally planned as a successor to CWZ, aiming to explore bigger and more diverse WebTiles expansions, the server faced several challenges such as lag issues from memory leaks and disk replacements. Nevertheless, we are now running stably.

We also successfully debuted as an official server in two tournaments, and seeing players achieve great results made me very proud.

The DWEM expansion module I'm currently developing has successfully implemented most functionalities from older expansion modules through feature validation. Our long-desired translation project has also started to pick up momentum.

I'm pleased to contribute, even in a small way, to the ecosystem of a game I love. I'd like to sincerely thank everyone who continues to support the server through encouragement and donations.

I look forward to your great plays in the future!

Thank you.

— ASCIIPhilia

2. Tournament Overview

Nemelex Altar

Prototype of Nemelex Altar

Inspired by previous CWZ events such as the "Hangawi Royal Jelly Tournament" and "King of WebSoccat," I thought it would be great to host our own local server event. Hosting it as a first-anniversary event would be both fitting and meaningful.

Prize

Glory (results will be immortalized on a separate score page in the future).

Winners in each category may (or may not) receive special privileges in the future. (I'll collect personal contact information via DM; don't get your hopes up too high! I'm thinking about making something like 3D-printed Dungeon Crawl merchandise, but if circumstances don't allow me to produce it, this may not happen.)

If anyone wants to sponsor prizes for the event, those will be used specifically for this tournament. Please contact the CNC server Discord event channel. (Prizes for each category or ranking will be discussed and decided collaboratively with sponsors.)

You may need to cover the shipping cost yourself for international delivery (Outside South Korea) of physical rewards from the tournament.

The announcement of tournament results may be delayed depending on my schedule at that time. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Event Duration

Two weeks, from June 11, 2025, 00:00 to June 24+1(25), 2025, 23:59 (KST).

  • Only games started at or after 00:00:00 on the start date and completed by or before 23:59:59 on the end date will be valid.
  • Only plays on CNC servers will be accepted for tournament submissions.
  • Due to server instability, the tournament period has been extended by one day.

3. [Skill Category] Nemelex Speedrun (Trunk version)

Requirements

  • Race: Any (excluding Demigods)
  • Background: Any
  • Must worship Nemelex and achieve the highest score upon game completion
  • Cannot follow any other deity or abandon the current deity

Notes

  1. I considered fixing seeds for fairness but decided against it because it would be unfortunate if a remarkable performance were overshadowed by seeded runs.
  2. Submit your Morgue file and score in the CNC server's Discord event channel.
  3. (Optional) For fun, submit a screenshot of your character in Tile version just before clearing the game (with the exit in view). (Use /ggame command to easily capture the image.)

4. [Entertainment Category] Unique Monster Gathering (Trunk version)

The winner is the player who gathers the most unique monsters within the character's active Line of Sight (LOS).

Scoring System

The base score is the number of unique monsters. Upon game clear, this base score will be multiplied by 1.5 and rounded down to an integer to calculate the final score. (If you fail to clear the game, no multiplier is applied.) Rankings are based on the final score. In case of ties, the total HD of unique monsters is used as the tiebreaker (note that if no tie occurs, the number of monsters alone determines the score).

*A duplicated unique monster is indistinguishable from its original, and thus counts as a single entity. However, it will not be counted twice when calculating points. (If only the duplicate is visible without the original in view, it counts separately. But if both the original and its duplicate are visible simultaneously, only one is counted.)

Submission Instructions

Submit your Morgue file and ttyrec file in the CNC server Discord's event channel.

  1. Enter ':' followed by 'submit', then press Enter and use 'Ctrl + X' to display monsters currently visible in your LOS. (If UI scrolling occurs, scroll fully with '>').
  2. Find your ttyrec file (https://archive.nemelex.cards/ttyrec/USERNAME/). Identify the moment you perform the ':' - 'submit' action and submit a link like:
    https://archive.nemelex.cards/ttyrec/ASCIIPhilia/?file=2024-09-12.10:45:36.ttyrec.bz2&time=1000
Specify the file to replay and the timestamp.
  3. After saving your game (Ctrl + S), ttyrec can be checked immediately on the server; ensure the action is correctly recorded right away.
  4. You may perform ':' - 'submit' multiple times in a single game.
  5. For scoring convenience, please list the names of all unique monsters gathered when submitting.
  6. (Optional) For fun, include a Tile screenshot of the gathered unique monsters. (Use /ggame or /mmenu command for easy capturing.)
